The tradition of an annual Schubertiade with Sibelius Academy students and faculty members continues with a concert exploring Schubert’s fascination with the Gothic underworld. Ghosts, phantoms and personifications of Death perpetually haunt Schubert’s songwriting, from the early horror ballads to his final masterpieces. This concert features some of the composer’s greatest hits, including ‘Der Tod und das Mädchen’ and ‘Erlkönig’, as well as hidden gems from this remarkable composer’s endlessly fascinating output of songs.
