Biography
American Mezzo-Soprano Haven Victorine Honermann (2001) is currently in her final year of study in the Opera Ensemble at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland where she studies under Ulla Raiskio.
Recent roles include A Lady with a Hat Box/A Foreign Singer in the Finnish premiere of Dominick Argento’s Postcard from Morocco (Sibelius Academy ‘25), Frau Reich in Otto Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor (Sibelius Academy ‘24), Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (Sibelius Academy ‘24), and Second Woman in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Chicago College of Performing Arts ‘22). Scene performances include Aino Kallas in Ilkka Kuusisto’s Nainen kuin jäätynyt samppanja (Sibelius Academy ‘23), Marjatta in Ilkka Kuusisto’s Isänmaan tyttäret (Sibelius Academy ‘23), Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Chicago College of Performing Arts ‘23), and 2nd Wood Sprite in Dvorak’s Rusalka (Prague Summer Nights ‘22).
In concert, Ms. Honermann has performed as the Alto Soloist in Beethoven’s C Major Mass with the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Dr. Cheryl Frazes Hill. In the spring of 2023, she curated and performed a solo recital entitled Rhapsody in Hope which explored a musician’s emotional journey through pre, mid, and post-pandemic life. Other concert credits include Mahler’s 2nd Symphony with the Chicago Sinfonietta under the baton of Mei-Ann Chen, Home Alone in Concert with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Richard Kaufman and Mahler’s 3rd Symphony with the CCPA Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Emanuele Andrizzi.
Ms. Honermann has worked with world renowned teachers and singers in masterclasses including Annette Weber-Hussain, Tiina-Maija Koskela, Brian Zeger, Camilla Nylund, Patricia Bardon, and Topi Lehtipuu.
In 2022, she attended the Prague Summer Nights Young Artist’s Music Festival in Tábor and Prague, Czech Republic where she understudied Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and sang 2nd Wood Sprite in Dvorak’s Rusalka.
Ms. Honermann is an avid performer of contemporary music and has performed in the world premiere of Carlos Gonzalez’s Immigrant Mass (CCPA ‘21) as well as the world premiere of composer Justin Pasquil’s Separation (CCPA ‘22).
She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts where she studied with Mark Crayton and graduated summa cum laude. During her time in CCPA she was a section leader in Conservatory Chorus and sang as a staff with St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church Choir.
